good, the bad and the statistics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hello all.&nbsp; We thought we\u2019d write one final post with some thoughts and figures to wrap up the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The good<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Seeing Chantal\u2018s family in Quebec City.<\/li><li>Seeing Jonty\u2019s family in Calgary and Canmore.<\/li><li>Reading your comments.<\/li><li>Meeting friendly folks along the way and having no unpleasant encounters.<\/li><li>Seeing Jonty\u2019s kindergarten teacher and parents\u2019 friend, Arlette, in Ottawa.<\/li><li>The cost of gas and food in the US.<\/li><li>Never being forced to change plans due to weather (no impact from floods, fires or tornadoes). &nbsp;<\/li><li>Having good weather overall.<\/li><li>Seeing all the incredible scenery &#8211; e.g., the Rockies; the northern shore of Lake Superior full of lovely, sandy beaches and towns perched lakeside; the rolling prairies and badlands of the northern States.<\/li><li>All the towns and cities we visited that exceeded our expectations &#8211; e.g., Winnipeg, MB, North Bay and Perth, ON, Neuville, QC, Fargo, ND.<\/li><li>Returning to Victoria &#8211; how lucky are we to call Vancouver Island home!<\/li><li>Getting Misty to walk on-leash comfortably after a few weeks &#8211; she would meow at the door of the boler every morning to go for out for a walk first thing.<\/li><li>Having lots of time to read.<\/li><li>Finding Chantal\u2019s residences in Winnipeg (during her time in Katimavik) and Montreal (when she was in University).<\/li><li>Watching movies and series in the evenings &#8211; a camping tradition of ours.<\/li><li>Receiving no emergency calls regarding Jonty\u2019s dad or Chantal\u2019s dad.<\/li><li>Neither of us feeling the need to retain a divorce lawyer upon our return.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The bad<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Driving too fast on the 50 km gravel road to our campsite at the Moosomin Regional Park, SA, causing visible damage to the front of the freshly painted boler.<\/li><li>RV Parks that were not maintained (luckily, we only encountered two or three of those).<\/li><li>Driving in Toronto GTA (the speed and congestion).<\/li><li>Not having time to go to Edmonton on the return leg.<\/li><li>Numerous bug bites.<\/li><li>Learning of the death of Jonty\u2019s lifelong friend, Sean Janzen, two weeks before the end of the trip.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The statistics<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Days on the road: 93<\/li><li>Provinces visited: 6<\/li><li>States visited: 6<\/li><li>Kilometres travelled: Approx. 13,500 (9,000 in Canada and 4,500 in the US)<\/li><li>Days driving: 38 (approx. 355 kms per travel day)<\/li><li>Amount spent on gas: $2300<\/li><li>Amount spent on camping: $3586 (average of $39\/night)<\/li><li>Books read: 10 (combined)<\/li><li>Galleries and museums visited: 13<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img
