July 16 (day 46) – Gatineau, QC / Ottawa, ON

We visited the Parliament Hill area of Ottawa and were very impressed with the architecture (and with the lack of “Freedom” truckers – yay!). Lunch on a terrace in the open-air Byward Market gave us the opportunity to people watch and feel the buzz of the city.

The West Block.
The West Block from Major’s Hill Park.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Privy Council.
A lot of the modern office towers have mirrored siding, which is a great idea rather than trying to compete with the existing architecture.

  1. So fun to see your beautiful photos of Ottawa sights! We love Ottawa and the Byward Market. Did you make it to Chateau Lafayette for a quart of Labatts 50?
