August 1 (day 62) – Madoc, ON

Today we celebrated Misty’s 17th birthday with a lovely drive on Ontario’s highway #7 from Ottawa to Madoc, about half way to Toronto, through peaceful countryside and historic towns including Perth, which has obviously invested in its heritage. Work on the Tay Canal that runs through Perth commenced in 1831. When finished it joined the Rideau Canal system, which links Ottawa to Lake Ontario.

Our campsite at Loon Lake near Madoc was charming; too bad we were only there for one night.
