We had another pleasant travel day driving through the plains, rolling hills and river canyons of Montana from Big Timber to Divide Creek, 30 miles south of Butte, named for its location on the continental divide (the hydrological division of the continent – water flowing west on one side and east on the other). We lucked out again finding a campsite beside the creek, and with its own path leading down to the water’s edge. Six of our last ten nights have been beside water, and three of the other four were at the Schnell Recreation Area, which has been one of our favourites of the trip. Like Schnell, Divide Creek is administered and maintained by the Bureau of Land Management and so far we’re very impressed with BLM sites.
