June 22, 23 – Moose Jaw, SK

Our drive from Medicine Hat, AB, into Saskatchewan should have been uneventful; however, a combination of very strong winds and highway speed blew a handle off one of the two storage boxes on the roof of the car, which then freed the lid to blow off but, thankfully, the netting over the boxes prevented us from losing the lid and any of the box’s contents while going 110 km/hr. It did mean though that we had to find a solution (ratchet straps for both boxes), which ended up delaying our trip. Following that first mishap of our trip, we spent two nights at the River Park Campground in a really nice site on the Moose Jaw River.

In addition to visiting the historic section of Moose Jaw’s downtown core, we couldn’t resist a visit to Mac the Moose, the world’s tallest moose – title reclaimed in 2019 after getting a new rack to surpass a moose in Norway.
We received several tornado alerts early in the evening but, luckily, none transpired.
