After a scenic drive from Thunder Bay to Marathon, mostly along the north shore of grand Lake Superior, we spent a lovely three days lake-side at Penn Lake. The days were warm and sunny, and the lake is very shallow, so the water temperature was very agreeable for afternoon dips. The only cool weather occurred on the second morning which gave us a different, yet still very picturesque, view of the lake … and the fog burnt off before noon.

Wow guys, what great pictures! You sure have a knack for finding great little campsites, too! The little boler is looking better that the day it was made 🙂
Look forward to reading more!

Thanks B&D! Penn Lake is certainly the benchmark now for our future sites.
Vraiment un beau camping. La température semble êtes favorable pour des campeurs.
Hâte de vous voir.

Great photos! I’m really enjoying your posts and following your route on the map!
Such great memories you’re making and all those gorgeous photos will look just great in a book about your trip!
More beautiful photos and what an experience you two are having. 🙂
Thanks Kim. Penn Lake was our most picturesque spot so far.
You must be getting pretty proficient with your drone! Great photos!
Cheers, Lothar
Thanks, but I’m still scared to use it fearing it’ll get blown away or crash or infringe on someone’s privacy. : ) Also, there are more “no fly” zones than I expected, e.g., a lot of Prov/Nat parks … there’s an approval process to go through on-line which sometimes fails for reasons I can’t figure out.
